Shopping and Day Trips

Background
Shopping and Day Trips will be organised through the Caring Hands Shop, a charge will be set according to the destination. The Sandyford Community Minibus is hired to accommodate trips.

Day Trips
Day trips go to such places as Redcar, Blyth, Seahouses and Durham. The charge for the trip is dependant on the estimated mileage traveled by the minibus, but as a guide, day trip prices will range from approximately £3.00 for short trips and £5.50 for longer trips per person.

Shopping Trips
Shopping trips go to places such as Asda – Gateshead, Sainsbury’s – Whitley Bay, Morrison’s – North Shields and many other large Supermarkets. At this time the prices for shopping trips average approximately £2.00 per person.

Pick up points for both shopping and day trips will be in Shieldfield, Battlefield, some parts of Heaton and Jesmond. As much as possible we aim to collect clients from their home and return them to their door as part of this service. A volunteer driver and volunteer escort will be on hand to offer assistance to those in need of support.
