Volunteering

Here at Caring Hands Charity we’re proud to boast about the dedication of our valued volunteers, after all we couldn’t provide most of our services without them!

We can normally work around your other interests so you don’t feel that we’re taking over all of your spare time.

Volunteer Profile
Clean smart appearance – good communicator – trustworthy – friendly – caring, able to follow instructions and respectful of others.

What is a volunteer?
A volunteer with Caring Hands Charity is someone who is prepared to offer even a few hours a week to support the services we provide.

How much time you commit to spending with us is really up to you. Can you spare 2 hours every week? If the answer is yes then you could be asked to help at our Lunch Club on Tuesdays. If you can’t spare 2 hours every week then maybe you could commit to supporting our lunch club every other Tuesday.

Anytime a volunteer can offer is always a help, you could offer to be emergency cover for holidays and illness and might only be contacted 3 times a year! At this time we only require volunteers between 9.00am and 4.00pm Monday to Friday.

What we expect from our volunteers
We hope that you’ll sign up to our volunteer agreement (this is binding in honour only), and join our team, your support allows our services to operate to high standards all year round. It would be helpful for you to read through the sample Volunteer Agreement as it offers details of the volunteers role and the charities role.

Expenses
Out of pocket expenses are offered, briefly these are travel expenses to and from the place of work or travel expenses involved with the work. Occasionally a lunch or lunch allowance may be offered, this would only apply if a volunteer worked over the lunch period for 4 or more hours and would be at the discretion of the manager.

Training
A thorough induction will be carried out prior to working with us. All of our policies will be available for the volunteer to read, but most of the information from the policies will be briefly covered during the induction session. We encourage volunteers to attend ‘in house’ training and do provide specialist training, when necessary for example, first aid, moving and handling, communication skills etc.
